Pigg leads Rockets to Trifecta over Cards

MARION, Ky. – New Rocket basketball coach DJ Pigg hit the trifecta in his first game at Rocket Arena Friday, grabbing his inaugural victory as head coach, notching the team’s first Fifth District win of the season and beating perhaps Crittenden County’s greatest rival – Livingston Central – in front of a large crowd.

Preston Morgeson hit 6 three pointers.
The Rockets won 58-39 by being more physical, rebounding well and winning loose balls. Crittenden led start to finish after jumping out to a 15-0 edge in the first period. Livingston trimmed it back to single digits for a time, but by the third quarter CCHS was back head by 14 after senior guard Preston Morgeson led a 10-2 run with a couple of three pointers.

Morgeson finished with a 24 points, including six treys, to lift the Rockets to their ninth straight victory over the Cardinals dating back to 2019. Junior guard Travis Champion had 19.

CCHS improves to 1-1 overall and will host Stewart County, Tenn., Saturday afternoon.
