Junior guard Taylor Guess scored 23 on Monday as the Lady Rockets beat Lyon County 63-51 to make it a clean sweep during the first half of the regular-season league round-robin and improve to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Fifth District.

Lyon’s height and length around the basket created some trouble for CCHS early, but the Lady Rockets never trailed. They led by eight or nine much of the way, but Lyon (5-5, 1-1) three times cut the margin to two.

Crittenden had to manage some minor foul trouble with Guess and Natalie Boone, but managed to pull away down the stretch.

The game was a makeup from a postponement on Dec. 10 when games were put off due to the impending tornados headed toward the area.
