Rockets crack poll; lose to Henderson

Crittenden County moved into the region’s Top 10 list this week for the first time this season despite losing its last three games.

The Rockets (6-6) went into their Christmas holiday schedule on a four-game winning streak – the likely impetus for breaking in to the area media poll’s Top 10 – but lost twice in a holiday tournament at Dover late last week and fell to Henderson County, ranked No. 4 in the region, on Monday at Rocket Area.

Junior point guard Gabe Mott scored 18 of his game-high 26 points in the second half against Henderson.

The Colonels led by 15 at halftime.

Half of Mott’s second-half points came at the foul line.

Preston Turley added 18 for CCHS and Erik O’Leary had 15.

Henderson (7-5) scored 10 three-pointers in the game.

The Rockets will be back in action later this week – Thursday against McCracken County at Mustang Madness and Friday night at home against Lyon County in a varsity Fifth District doubleheader.
