Morgeson gets 1K, Champion on his heels

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Crittenden County closed out its holiday basketball action on a high note Friday in Campbellsville, and there was a crescendo to the event that will reverberate for ages.

Travis Champion Player of Game
The Rockets finished 1-2 in the Campbellsville tournament, beating John Hardin 73-60 in the finale as junior Travis Champion tied a career-best 36 points. His offensive performance earned Player of the Game honors and he was also selected to the all-tournament team.

Perhaps paramount to the entire show was senior Preston Morgeson’s 1,000th career point, which came on a three-pointer two minutes into the game. Morgeson finished with 25 points in the win, his team’s sixth in 13 games.

Champion, too, is closing on in on the 1K milestone, needing only 10 more points to reach it, but will have to wait more than a week as the Rockets are off until Jan. 7 at home against University Heights.
