Towel thrown in at right time

Some fair-weather Rocket basketball fans may have been ready to throw in the towel after last week’s disappointing Fifth District loss to Trigg County, but Crittenden County coach Denis Hodge hung onto it and hurled the towel at a key juncture four days later to ignite a spark, and a great big shot.

Crittenden County lost 61-43 Friday to Fifth District foe Trigg County at Rocket Arena, but turned the tables on Caldwell County Tuesday at the same venue, beating the Tigers 65-62 in a thriller. It was the first Rocket win over Caldwell since a double-overtime victory in 2014.

Freshman Preston Morgeson touched in a three-pointer with four seconds to play Tuesday, breaking a tie game. Then he picked off Caldwell’s inbounds pass, preventing any sort of a Tiger miracle.
