Four members of the Rocket basketball team were selected to the All-Fifth District squad, which was announced last week during the Fifth District Tournament at Cadiz.
Selected from Crittenden County were guards Aaron Owen and Ethan Hill, forward Bobby Knox and center Devin Clark. Owen is a junior and the other three are seniors.
In very simple terms, you might call Crittenden County's basketball game Tuesday night in the opening round of the Fifth District Tournament a contest of toughness vs. quickness.
A gutsy performance by senior forward Bobby Knox and the rest of the Rockets had host Trigg County on the ropes late, but the Wildcats' quickness prevailed. Trigg beat the Rockets 60-57, but it was only by inches – literally.
Senior Rocket guard Ethan Hill stole the ball at midcourt with a second to play then took a couple of long dribbles before firing a shot that was on line, but just short of its mark. Had it gone in, the game would have gone into overtime.
“You're guys are tough, they're just really tough,” said veteran Trigg County coach Mike Wright. “I thought (Deonquez) Nance and (Dee) Murphey's quickness created some problems for Crittenden and that was the difference.”
Trigg scored 20 points off Rocket turnovers.
