Rockets can't retain momentum vs Falcons

MARION, Ky. — Coming off its second win of the season the night before, Crittenden County stayed within striking distance early but went cold from long range in a 76-53 loss to Fort Campbell on Friday night at Rocket Arena.

The Rockets managed just one 3-pointer in 16 attempts, a shooting slump that proved costly as the Falcons gradually pulled away. Fort Campbell led 17-14 after one quarter, extended the margin to 33-23 at halftime and took control with a 19-point third quarter.

Freshman Roane Topp continued his strong stretch, scoring 18 points for the second straight game and adding eight rebounds. Senior Brayden Poindexter finished with 11 points, while Emmitt Ellington scored 12, including 10 in the fourth quarter as Crittenden tried to close the gap.

Crittenden County was also hurt at the free-throw line, converting 10 of 23 attempts.

Fort Campbell placed four players in double figures and made seven three-pointers.

The loss was the fourth straight to Fort Campbell for the Rockets, who fell to 2-23. The Falcons improved to 7-13.
