Hunt delivers in first varsity start

Senior Chloe Hunt stole the show in her
first varsity start for the Lady Rockets.
MARION, Ky. — Senior Chloe Hunt, who has battled persistent knee problems throughout her high school career, made her first career start Saturday on Senior Night and ignited an emotional evening at Rocket Arena with a 3-pointer to open the game as Crittenden County rolled past Union County 51-19.

Hunt, who has undergone multiple surgeries on both knees because of a degenerative condition, had seen limited minutes in the previous game. Given the start, she made the most of it, scoring the first five points of the night and finishing with 10 points, just one shy of the team lead. Senior center Bristyn Rushing led Crittenden with 11 points.

“The adrenaline kept me going,” Hunt said. “I took a lot of medication before the game so I was ready to go.”

The opening moments were especially emotional, with teammates in tears and the crowd on its feet as Hunt knocked down her early shots.

Crittenden jumped out to a 26-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back, extending the margin to 44-10 by halftime. With the outcome decided early, the Lady Rockets were able to get their entire bench into the game during the second half.

Crittenden improved to 17-4 overall and posted its sixth straight win over Union County. The Lady Rockets will host Hopkins Central on Tuesday. Union County fell to 5-14.
