Rockets beat HCA for second win of season

Brayden Poindexter
DOUBLE DOUBLE
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Crittenden County found its offensive rhythm behind a couple of double-doubles Tuesday night, turning in its best scoring performance in more than three years.

The Rockets (2-22) earned a 73-67 road win at Heritage Christian Academy, marking just their second victory this season, and only the second over the past two seasons following last year’s winless campaign.

Crittenden County’s last 70-point game came in a win in February 2024, coincidentally the final victory before the Rockets defeated HCA earlier this season to end a long losing skid. The last time CCHS scored more than 73 points was Jan. 21, 2003, when it posted 77 in a win over Christian Fellowship.

Heritage Christian fell to 1-20. Crittenden County also defeated HCA by 10 points in Marion on Jan. 6, snapping an almost two-year winless stretch.

Senior Brayden Poindexter led the Rockets with 17 points and 19 rebounds, while his sophomore brother, Conner Poindexter, added a career-high 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Roane Topp scored a career-high 18 points.

Brayden Poindexter scored 24 points in Crittenden County’s earlier win over HCA.

Crittenden led 15-13 after one quarter, took a 33-30 halftime advantage and carried a 54-44 lead into the fourth.
